Ish Sodhi Non Asian Player with 100 Wickets in T20 Matches

Ish Sodhi is the first non-Asian spinner to ever record 100 wickets in a match.

Ish Sodhi, a 29-year-old leg-spinner from New Zealand, became the sixth bowler overall and the first non-Asian spinner to record 100 wickets.

New Zealand played Bangladesh last Sunday (9 October) in Christchurch, despite being preoccupied with the home series with Pakistan and Bangladesh. Ish Sodhi made that new T20I record during that game.

Bangladesh was given the chance to bat first in the third match of the tri-series by New Zealand. After losing two wickets, New Zealand successfully chased down the total in 17.5 overs while Bangladesh reached 137/8 in 20 overs.

101 wickets in 78 T20Is for Ish Sodhi

Sodhi was one wicket away from reaching 100 T20 wickets when his 78th got underway. Sodhi bowled his first over of the game in the ninth over of the contest, and on the last ball of that over, he reached 100 T20 wickets. Najmul Hossain Shanto (33), who was caught out at long-off by Mark Chapman, was dismissed by him to start the set.

Sodhi removed Mosaddek Hossain in his next over (2). Sodhi finished that game with a bowling average of 4-0-31-2 and 101 wickets in 78 T20 Internationals.

Sodhi also passed 100 wickets in the third-fastest time in the interim.
