WPL Auction 2023 | Full list of squads
WPL Auction 2023 is now officially in the books. On Monday, February 13, the much-anticipated event took place in Mumbai, with five franchises competing against each other to sign the best women’s cricketers in the world.
The auction pool had 448 players, but only 87 of them received contracts. Only three players surpassed the 3 crore mark. Smriti Mandhana was the most expensive pick, with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) paying 3.4 crores for her offerings.
The most expensive foreign signings at the WPL Auction 2023 were Ashleigh Gardener and Nat Sciver Brunt. Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians signed Gardener and Brunt to contracts worth 3.2 crores each.
The signing of Devika Vadiya by UP Warriorz for 1.4 crore raised some eyebrows, while the signing of Jemimah Rodrigues, Shefali Verma, and Meg Lanning by Delhi Capitals was lauded.
